Mics?
#1 :: Post by Impey on June 05 2010 19:51:32
What mics do people have to do their sets? My sister has this professional Behringer mic but I've messed with the settings and its still to quiet!

Thanks

We've been using a Samson R11. Found it at a wedding, guess the wedding dj forgot it so I took it. Its nothing fancy but it does the job. Check your mixers' output spec's, you may just be pushing too much thru it at once making the mic sound quiet. Thats what our problem was, our old mixer just couldnt handle music and a mic at the same time. Either the music would get distorted or the mic would be quiet... What kind of mixer do you use? Does it have a talkover function? Also have you tried other mic cords? I took one of my cords apart once and the solder points had broken so the wires were just barely making a connection.

i use a mic that cost me a tenner from argos and its never failed altho i do an Audio Technika mic for times when im expecting an mc. as long as it sounds ok it dont really matter mate. not much point in splashin out loadsa cash on one for your show. Its not like youl be recording vocals with it, unless your using it for your tracks.
Cant got wrong with a SM58 if your after a resonably priced good mic.
All bout the Oldskool baby!
