Ez Guys & Gals
As you will know Im a nut for changing stuff.. but I think it keeps it lively and fresh.. nothing like a site thats been round a few years and looks the same as always.. Dont get me wrong, I know its Branding n all, but I like to think that newness = freshness.
When I did this version of the site, I had mainly the users in mind and lets be honest, of the hundreds that tune in everyday, not many if any actually use the forums, shoutbox or the chatroom.
So we have a new look coming for January 2009 along with a nice bunch of new features for DJ's and Listeners / users alike and its coming at cost. its gonna cost me around $650 for a couple of scripts I am paying to be written (I cant do it myself, my php knowledge isnt that good!)
Here are some changes that will be happening :
Design wise, Bassjunkees has a fresh new logo. its simple but boy does it look sweet! and reflects us being radio and addicts with 1 design. Bassjunkees colours will remain blues and greys as it has done, but it will have an urban / industrial / underground look, slightly grungy. DNB is an underground music (even if it is more commerical than ever)..
(a) All Banners advertising will be gone for good
(b) All google advertising will go
(c) the mp3 shop we have with trackitdown will be going.
(d) podcast section will be replaced by new downloads section
(e) Flashchat to be replaced by the old IRC chat (as the chatroom just bogs down too many djs when doing live shows)
New stuff
DJ's will have feature rich pannels including show stats and editable downloads & uploads (meaning you can upload, view all your own and delete them in your dj panel). These features developed and coded by myself.
Users will soon be able to request tunes on our server and add them to be played on the playlist (when no shows are live). Another station has such a script in place already using SAM4 Broadcaster, but is for Windows servers only. so we will be having our own script custom built for Bassjunkees via out-sourced php programmers.
Schedules will also have a time zone converter on the week to view page, so they can view schedules in their time zone. The Todays schedule will be displayed for everyone in their time zone with the current show or next live show highlighted for easy reference. This is being custom built for bassjunkees via out-sourced php programmers.
I will be making it, so that no-one can connect or change any details on the home page during a live show and can only connect when archives are playing.. Hopefully this will solve the problem of some djs tryingn to connect too early etc..
We have a new web flash based radio player for those having problems tuning in with their pc's software. Such player will also be available for myspace pages
All various errors and stuff will be ironed out in the new release of the website which im calling V6 (version 6, although probably more like version 106.. lol). Problems with getting new passwords.. points sytem not working along with a few other minor and some major bugs being ironed out.
There are a few other things I want to do to increase listener activity on the website. The Song request script is just one of those things.. LIke I said its costing me $650 for 2 scripts I am having custom built for the benefit of Bassjunkees.
The Junkee Recordings mp3 shop will be opening next year.. Sorry its taken so long to get this off the ground.. but next year both psycho and myself will be on it in a big way.
If you would like to help me with the $650 bill for custom scripts for bassjunkees It would be greatly appreciated. I know many of you donate every month, but if any of you (including regular listeners and DJ's) can spare a little extra to help with making the site that much better, it would be good!
If you have any suggestions on how we can make bassjunkees the bollox when it comes to radio station websites please do let me know! Anything you can think of to help listener interaction, or anything... anything... anything...
Bigup all. Here's for good shit to come in 2009! |
