Should Bassjunkees add Jungle & Oldskool to its archives system?
#1 :: Post by ABV on July 19 2008 16:29:38
As Bassjunkees is a Drum & Bass, Jungle and Oldskool station with a few Dubstep shows, should we not cater for all tastes when no dj is live?

I Propose that we add Jungle and oldskool tunes to our archives rotation system.. Perhaps not as many of these tunes as DNB in the rotation, perhaps 75% DNB, 25% everything else.. just to break things up again.

Obvioulsy everyone is going to base opinions on personal taste.. So if you dont like jungle or oldskool your not goingn to say yes.. however think about the "we should cater for everyone" line.

I personally think we should, just to break up the monotiny of drum & bass. I want to know what you all think.

I like to think we're more than just a DNB station. Agreed we are 90% a DNB station, however we do offer more than just DNB.

We should excuse the ignorant people out there who obviously dont seem to recognise that dubstep is part of the DNB flavour wether you like it or not. Same goes for Oldskool and Jungle.. its part of what DNB is, without it DNB wouldnt be here...

Also if you look at when those djs do play dubstep at the end of their shows its usually late at night.. Caspar.. Louis B are the only 2 I know who play dubstep at the end of their show and its like late at night when People are oviously going out / going to bed / going off to watch TV.. so to put it down becuase its dubstep is just plain ignorant.

70% of our listeners are from Germany, so perhaps we should ask the German headz what they want.

Dubstep is getting bigger and bigger every day.. More and more people are getting into the dubstep vibe.. Even Drum & Bass producers are making dubstep.. Look at Technical Itch & Benny Page and Markus Visionary - 3 very different DNB producers making dubstep!. Just becuase some of you may not like it personally I think it would be seriously fuckin DUMB to ignore it and try and brush it under the carpet like they tried to do with oldskool back in the early 90's. When dubstep becomes as big as what dnb is today and we're gonna look like right twats becuase a couple of peeps didnt like it.

If we all did business based on personal preferences rather than the current market and trends.. we'd all be fucked.

yeah lets stick QC in studio 2 on his own.. lets see listener stats....................................

QC and I have had this out before in the chatroom. He doesnt like dubstep, doesnt like oldskool and doesnt like jungle.. For a drum & bass fan thats real fuckin IRONIC! But then QC, his way of thinking and his methods - he is still stuck in victorian era where women walked 2 paces behind and asked permission to take a shit.

Not saying thats wrong! Just think its a little backwards.. for someone who is for musical progression and yet hates the idea of using software or CDJ's for DJ'ing.... again very backwards thinking and very Ironic!

Hey feel free to bash me! Im pretty stuck in my ways also, I aint perfect.. but these are just my opinions and are forums not the place for opinions?

Whats to be mad about? I dont like liquid very much or wobble either.. but you dont see me removing every liquid n wobble tune from the arhives just cause I dont like it.. and Im the one who uploads them!

And for the record - I just witnessed Louis play dubstep the last 20 mins of his show.. Listeners went up then down then up then down.. but they stayed on par as when he first started playing it......
